Coway said Friday that it had been listed on the 2024 Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index (DJSI Asia Pacific) for 12 consecutive years, becoming the only Korean household appliances maker to be included in the index.

According to Coway, it made it into DJSI Asia Pacific for 12 consecutive years after gaining top evaluations in the fields of environmental policy, climate strategy, water resources management and cybersecurity availability. The company was also listed on DJSI Korea for the seventh consecutive year.

The DJSI was launched in 1999 to assess the environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance of global companies, providing reliable references for investors regarding the sustainability policies of companies.

Coway said the latest recognition showcases the company’s commitment to ESG principles in its operations. Since establishing its ESG committee in 2021, Coway has been pursuing carbon neutrality, inclusivity and transparent governance as strategic priorities in its corporate activities.

As part of its efforts, the company supports Korea’s first private wheelchair basketball team, the BlueWheels Basketball Team, and operates a choir comprised of disabled members. Coway also runs the Classroom Forest Project, which donates air-purifying plants to elementary schools, and other environmental programs.

“We are honored to be recognized once again through our inclusion in the esteemed DJSI Asia Pacific and DJSI Korea,” an official at Coway said. “We will stay dedicated to fostering trust and mutual growth with our customers, local communities and partners.”
